Deadly Dreams: Ten years after his parents are killed, Alex
is plagued by nightmares and visions that drive him to the brink
of madness.
For a B-grade movie, this isn't
bad at all. It has a good plot and the acting is decent. A few
of the dream/horror sequences are shot a bit stiffly, but there
are more than a few scenes in which the cinematography is excellent.
At 79 minutes, it drags a bit in the middle, but it would be hard
to fit the story into a 43-minute episode of "Alfred Hitchcock
Presents," which it resembles greatly. This is a good movie
to watch as a double-feature along with a better movie. A pizza
and a six-pack wouldn't hurt, either.
Mitchell Anderson plays Alex, a likeable guy with a large
inheritance. He's the main character in this movie and he's quite
good. He and Thom Babbes, who plays Alex's best friend, are the
best actors in the film. If you don't care for the slightly predictable
plot, you might at least enjoy seeing Mitchell take a shower and
walk around in a bath towel.
